Melyrid? - Attalus from South Carolina.
This is a male of Attalus scincetus (Say). It is a common widespread species, and occurs from Nuevo Leon in Mexico north at least as far as Wisconsin. It can be found on flowers of Prunus, Crataegus, Cornus, Sambucus etc. in spring and early summer.
