Found in a rotting log that has been heavily decomposed by white molds.

herculeanus?
Could these be young C. herculeanus? That species should be abundant in the UP of Michigan.

Carpenter Ant (Camponotus sp.) - workers
Color pattern suggests C. chromaiodes, but I'm doubtful this species occurs as far North.
