Hymenorus sp. ? - Lobopoda nigrans

Hymenorus sp. ? - Lobopoda nigrans
Middleburg, Clay County, Florida, USA
April 2, 2010
Size: 8.16mm
Mercury Vapor light trap. I've been through the keys too many times. Comes up as Hymenorus
each time. Only 23 species in FL. Penultimate tarsomeres of pro and meso tarsi have
distinct membranous ventral lobes. Apical palpomeres of maxilla triangular. Eyes and
antennae are slightly different than Lobopoda. I think Teneb's are difficult!!!!

keys out well to L. nigrans (Melsheimer)
you may want to have it checked against ref. specimens next time you visit the coll'n
Moved from ID Request.

looks like Lobopoda so me...
hard to tell how close the eyes are together in this image. Probably L. erythrocnemis.

Eye separation
Blaine, where the eyes join above the mentum, they are separated
by just over the width of the antenna scape if that helps. I broke
a palp and its right front leg off in moving it around. Will get to
see how good I am at repairing things eh!
