Native to Europe. Literature records from Newfoundland (1990s), Alaska (2009). Also from Washington on BugGuide (2010).

Remarks
European species established in eastern Canada since the early 1990s, detected in Alaska in 2009 and Washington in 2010. Now in ten western WA counties (Clark to Whatcom). Larvae feed on alders in spring and early summer, and causes severe defoliation of Alnus tenuifolia in Alaska.
