Pyrochroid larva - Dendroides canadensis

Pyrochroid larva - Dendroides canadensis
Greensfelder County Park, St. Louis County, Missouri, USA
April 3, 2010
I was going to post this as a cucujid, but this post http://bugguide.net/node/view/44726 made me think otherwise. Habitat was under bark of a decomposing basswood limb partly buried in leaf litter.

Moved
Moved from Dendroides.

Dendroides canadensis Latreille
This is Dendroides canadensis Latreille - and looking a bit peaked - perhaps in want of some chow following a long winter's nap! The gut can usually be seen throught the integument & would normally look darker when filled with material being processed.

i'll ask Dan Young to check
