Horseshoe Reservoir, Maricopa County, Arizona, USA
August 19, 2005
Found in Sonoran desertscrub. Any ideas?

White-lined sphinx caterpillar.
This is a larva of the white-lined sphinx, Hyles lineata. Very common, but highly variable. Some larvae are largely black.
