Moved
Moved based on a conversation with Gayle in which he said that while it was found indoors, it was a flying roach. The Germans are flightless, so this is an Asian cockroach. It is good to finally have a record from Louisiana- I knew that they must be here. Moved from Blattella.

Tough call
This is a tough call for me. If it was captured outdoors, it is almost certainly Blattella asahinai, the Asian cockroach as the German cockroaches are not able to survive outdoors for long. If it was found indoors, it is much more likely to be the German cockroach. To my knowledge, the Asian cockroach has not been documented in Louisiana, but this is certainly because nobody has looked closely enough for the morphologically similar (but behaviorally distinct) Asian cockroaches, as they have been transported throughout the Gulf South, presumably along I-10.
