Yes
I do believe so; the shape, size, pronotal structure and reduced eyes are supportive. There are four spp. in CA so not sure of the species, yet. All my literature is at home.

tips [barely] of the mandibles exposed?

. If not, this might be
Tesarius
- similar to the generally eastern Geopsammodius, already in the guide. Good find. More shots would be helpful - especially the head and pronotum. Tesarius also have reduced eyes. Additionally, I think I see typical Psammodiine tarsomeres - could be wrong on that though.
