The sculptured dull black appearance (camera flash makes it appear shiny), punctate head, rounded, smooth, and compressed abdomen, wing venation, and rectangular pronotum indicate this family. Both males and females can have hairy antennae (sometimes pectinate in males) - this is likely an emerging female because males typically have a more petiolate abdomen. Most are parasitic on gall-forming insect larvae, others feed exclusively on plant seeds that may also form galls (seed chalcids).
