Correction...
This is a
Chaetarthria
- I didn't notice this before, but note the very long hairs lining the posterior margin of the 1st abdominal sternum (in the ventral). The very convex body outline is also another give-away. Based on color and size, I suspect this is
C. pallida
but not sure what other species are found in CA. One of the missing Hydrophilid genera..Thanks!

I did notice the fringe of lo
I did notice the fringe of long hairs along the posterior margin of the first segment while I was taking the pictures. Thanks for the identification.
