Burney Granite Moth - Digrammia burneyata

Burney Granite Moth - Digrammia burneyata
Highway 36 Reststop overlooking Lake Almanor, Plumas County, California, USA
June 21, 2007
I believe this moth to be Digrammia burneyata based on MPG photos. A larva host plant Incense Cedar is abundant in the area where found. A very similar species is Digrammia muscariata - But this species feed on Quercus (Oak) species which are not to be found in the Westwood/lake Almanor Basins.

Moved
Moved from Digrammia.

Impecable Logic.....
I imagine it means nothing that the MPG photos as well as those in the MONA fascicle do not show discal spots, and Ferguson does not mention them. It might be that they are seen only in ultra-fresh specimens, but Ferguson reared them and ought to have mentioned them if he saw them (he frequently did not discuss obvious things).

Please contact me at BPatter789@aol.com regarding permission to display on plates at MPG photos of moths and larvae that you post here. Thanks, B.P.
