Parcoblatta adult - Parcoblatta pennsylvanica - male

Parcoblatta adult - Parcoblatta pennsylvanica - Male
Perry County, Pennsylvania, USA
Size: 28 mm
Four ridge like structures are immediately obvious after moving the wings. Are these what we are looking for? They seem to be the same four spots that were pointed out previously on the molt photo

I was expecting this guy to live a lot longer by the way. I am not sure why he died so early. There did not appear to be anything wrong with him accept a piece of what looked like dirt stuck to the tip of the abdomen

Thanks for all your help John. I also have another adult of the orange kind (which might actually be mating with the females), so we will check that one out too if his death goes like this one did and the others don't cannibalize like they did to the female that passed

I'm sorry for your loss but ...
This is the first photograph on the Internet illustrating the structures that definitively identify male Parcoblatta pennsylvanica cockroaches. For that matter, I don't think that there are other photographs available of other species of Parcoblatta clearly demonstrating these "median segment" structures. While the other cockroaches currently placed as P. pennsylvanica on BugGuide are probably this species, I believe that only these structures reliably differentiates it from P. divisa. It is also great to see the characters on the immature roach linked in such a conclusive way to the identified adult. Great work!
