Azure Bluet Metamorphosis - Enallagma aspersum - female

Azure Bluet Metamorphosis - Enallagma aspersum - Female
North Davy Crockett National Forest, Houston County, Texas, USA
April 6, 2010
Size: ~30mm
Not long after beginning metamorphosis in the lab. Even at this stage the damsefly was pretty active about trying to avoid the camera. Note the black tail tip on the larval exuviae - this seems to be diagnostic within Enallagma for much of its range if you are in fishless habitat.
