Not albipilis!
Martin I think this is not M. albipilis. I found two males in Fee's undetermined material. The arista are extremely compact and half the length of those found in M. albipilis. Doesn't match any of the currently recognized species.

there is another specimen from TX on BG, both have the really reddish thorax etc, and I also was struggling to say they are albipilis... they might be a new species, but I never had one in a collection....interesting fly for sure...

 
Directly compared both.
Fee had a specimen of a New Mexico M. albipilis. I directly compared them both.
