E.G. Riley:
"Pachybrachis sp. (as are the other two linked by JC Jones). But the taxonomy of these boldly-marked orange and black eastern USA species is messed up, and I prefer not put species names on them."

Moved from Bassareus detritus.

Pachybrachis dilatatus
All 3 images listed as B. detritus appear to be Pachybrachis dilatatus.

what didn't you like about the ID?

My mistake..
didn't realize you had moved it to species...early morning after a late night kind of thing...

i can totally relate to the 'late night kind of thing' thing :)
Fri. morning i was terrified to discover just an ounce of vodka left at the bottom of the 1.75L bottle opened a night before when an ex-student of my wife's stopped by...

you must be right; nice one, too
