Microschatia championi
Thanks Fran and Kojun.

The SBMNH Beetle Project lists two Microschatia species for California, championi and inaequalis. I looked at specimens of these species in the Essig Museum. M. inaequalis has bumpy elytra, whereas championi has smoother but more punctate elytra like the one in this photo (and matches the type specimen at Harvard).

All of the M. championi records at Essig are from Baja California, Mexico. This beetle was about 6 miles north of Baja CA.

Looks like a Microschatia. T
Looks like a Microschatia. There is a photo in the harvard type database of M. cham*pioni that looks similar to this creature, but I'm not very familiar with the species in this genus.

looks like
interesting Stenomorpha sp. (or related Asidini).
