Possibly Pison, or Pisonopsis? -
Pison
Santa Clara, Santa Clara County, California, USA
April 17, 2010
This small black wasp twisted its abdomen and seemed not very alert. Perhaps injured?

Thanks, Ken
I am very unsure of my initial guess, and even where to move this. I will add that I have seen this rather small species more than once and they seem to have a strange habit of twisting their abdomen to the side. I don't know what to make of that!

Well -
your guess may well be right, but we might be more likely to get a confirmation or ID here... Let's leave it here for a while to see if an expert comments? I don't know anything about this type of wasp, I'm afraid.
