Mid-Summer Butterfly - Papilio glaucus

Mid-Summer Butterfly - Papilio glaucus
Ann Arbor, Washtenaw County, Michigan, USA
May 22, 2004
This photograph was taken during the middle of this last summer on the edge of a wooded area in Nichols Arboretum on the campus of the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor. I am pretty sure that the butterfly is a type of Swallowtail, but with my inexperience in identification I can not determine the exact type. For a full description of the surrounding enviornment please refer to this site and scroll down in the page to the Nichols Arboretum section.

Please note that I found this butterfly with a fold on the top section of one wing. After watching it attempt to fly for a few minutes I could only conclude that the fold was hindering its chances. I was not sure what to do in this situation, is there anything that I could have done to help the butterfly? Thanks for the help identifying and any insights about the butterfly's injury.

Is the month of May correct?
You note that this photo was mid-summer, but the date is May 22nd.
