Scarab Beetle -- Diplotaxis? - Phyllophaga

Scarab Beetle -- Diplotaxis? - Phyllophaga
Worcester County, Maryland, USA
April 17, 2010
I believe this is a scarab beetle in the genus Diplotaxis. Could anyone verify or possibly take it to species? It was found on the edge of a White Cedar/Cypress swamp. Thanks.

Definitely Phyllophaga (Phyllophaga)
It may be anxia or something near by the gestalt. Need good shots of the pecker to be sure.

Gestalt says Phyllophaga (eventhough it is a little early). What was the size?

Regardless of genus, a species would be difficult without detailed angles, and possibly examination of maile genitilia.

The bug was about 3/4" long. I understand taking it species is probably not likely, but a nice solid genus would be nice :)
