Barklice - Ectopsocus californicus
Long Beach, Los Angeles County, California, USA
April 21, 2010
Size: 3-5mm
Found on a leaf of a lemon tree. It moved around a lot, but never took flight the whole time I watched it.

Strange head and body for a fly imo.
Any help would be appreciated.

It's a Barklouse of some kind. Someone else may be able to tell you more.

Resembles Ectopsocidae a bit:



That's not an ID--just a possibility to ponder while waiting to hear from someone who actually knows something about Barklice. :)
