Size: 3 mm tall
Numerous red, conical galls on upper surface of basswood (Tilia americana) leaf along urban street. Very few leaves on the tree had these galls. Lower side of leaf beneath galls was slightly puckered and yellowed.

The mite galls would be hairy on the underside, like this:
