I think so, but I'm not wonderful with eastern species. Did it have a bronze cast to it?
If that's the right genus, yours is a female. (Note how the eyes touch on Ted's male, but are separated on yours.)

A couple things to check if you're browsing the syrphids:
1. Your fly has an enlarged rear leg (femur). Not many syrphid species do.
2. Do other candidate flies have a posture similar to yours? Not infallible, but can be a good indication.
