take a look at Isabella Tiger Moth - Hodges#8129 - Pyrrharctia isabella

Maybe one of the moth experts will be able to confirm/correct.

A woolly bear, really?
How exciting. It does look like it. I've never really seen an adult. This one seems out kind of early, no?

This year
This year a lot of moths seem early.

Good to see you again!
And I agree; this year seems to have been early for everything including wasp nests.

According to the Guide...
the adults fly from April to August (although I would expect the earlier records to come from the southern states, not PA). Maybe one of the moth specialists can tell us if this really is as unusual as it seems.
