Cicindela scutellaris - male - female

Cicindela scutellaris - Male Female
Constance Bay Sandhills, Ottawa-Carleton, Ontario, Canada
April 24, 2010
Size: approx 12 mm
There were many C. scutellaris along a wide sandy trail adjacent to a woodland. This pair was mating and while so doing, an ant went up to them and the female promptly grabbed it and began eating. She has part of the body in her mouth, the discarded ant head is next to her.
