Sawfly - Monoctenus - female

Sawfly - Monoctenus - Female
Savannah, Andrew County, Missouri, USA
April 23, 2010
Size: 3/8 inch
Found this little sawfly on an Eastern Cedar tree in my backyard. I believe it is in the genus Hoplocampa, but does anyone know it to species? We have apple, crabapple, hazelnut, bradford pear, and various other trees nearby. I seem to get a lot of sawfly larvae each year, but rarely see the adults and certainly have never seen an adult quite like this one.

Diprionidae
Monoctenus sp., female. A small genus with several species in eastern N. Amer., the larvae of which feed on juniper/cedar. Not too commonly encountered. Can't tell the species from the picture.
