Moved
Moved from Apolysis based on guide page comment that there is only one eastern species.

Moved from Apolysis. Huh?

Moved from Flies.

Bee fly
Something in the bee fly family Bombyliidae. I know! Some are quite tiny. I'll be posting a similar one from Arizona here shortly.

Thanks, Eric.
My guess is that it is Apolysis sigma. I looked at the third antennal segment through a powerful hand lens and saw a tiny spine projecting upwards, although I couldn't see the details. BugGuide says this is the only Apolis species in the eastern US ... but maybe I have the wrong genus.

ID
Looks like Apolysis to me.

Thanks, Andy.
I guess that nails it to species, too. Looks like we need a separate page for it on BugGuide.
