Pillbug - Armadillidium nasatum

Pillbug - Armadillidium nasatum
New Paltz, Ulster County, New York, USA
July 17, 2009

Moved
Moved from Woodlice.

How can I resist such confidence? Here ya go, Arp. :)

Moved
Moved from ID Request.

So, if not A. nasatum ...
... what other species did you have in mind?

None at all...
I'm merely trying to clear out ID Request. I'm not a crustacean expert, and I generally won't move something to the species level unless I know that the individual who suggested an ID is a recognized authority (Bob Patterson for moths, Andy Hamilton for hoppers, etc). Given that your bio states that you are not an expert, I decided to move the image to the suborder level. No offense is intended--you could very well be spot on with the ID--it's just my way of playing it safe and keeping the Guide as free from error as possible.

Okey-dokey
@Kurt: For your own personal purposes - no worries, it's nasatum alright ;o)

Should be
Armadillidium nasatum, even if the "nose" is not clearly showing due to the head being lifted upward. In NY I don't think there has ever been another similar species recorded.
