moth - Leucania

moth - Leucania
Harvard, Worcester County, Massachusetts, USA
August 30, 2003

not Mythimna oxygala
This is some species of Leucania; there's 3 or 4 possibilities but the light reflecting off the wings makes this one more difficult to ID to species.
M. oxygala has only two spots along the PM line, and the lack of dark shading along the veins of the forewing gives it a uniformly pale appearance.

Moved
to the Leucania page. Thanks Robin.
