Needing some proteins
It is not unusual for females of the Tenthredininae subfamily, to which this nice insect belongs, to devour some small insects they happen to meet on the plants, provided they are still clumsier than themselves.
This is all the more remarkable, as the larvae are wholly vegetarian.
This predacious behavior likely helps to mature a larger number of eggs, just like for haematophagous diptera.
Given the general slender habitus, I would lean for the genus Tenthredopsis, but that is a mere hypothesis!

Wonderful
Thank you, Richard, for those informative comments.
Can an editor please account for this subfamily, Tenthredininae? Thanks!

WOW!
This is one of the most colorful sawflies I've seen! Do you know what kind it is?
