Bee Fly larva - Anthrax aterrimus

Bee Fly larva - Anthrax aterrimus
Howell, Monmouth County, New Jersey, USA
April 28, 2010
This bee fly larva hatched out after cutting open the mud dauber cocoon with the spikes on its head. Its all black and very shiny, meaning it must be late in development. Shouldnt be long now before the bee fly comes out.
