Life Cycle
Constructs a rectangular mine between 2 veins of a basswood leaf. The newly hatched larva marks out the final boundaries of its mine as it begins eating then begins to feed from the outer edges toward the center, leaving a trail of frass along the outer edges. It pupates in the center. These larva must be a good judge of how much it will need to consume as it lays out the borders.(1)
