Willow Grove, Montgomery County, Pennsylvania, USA
April 22, 2010
Size: 11 mm.
I found this caterpillar hanging by a thread under a sweetgum tree (Liquidambar). It was so hyperactive that I placed it in a glass cage for photography (a UV filter that I don't use anymore).
I left it overnight and the next day it had built a cocoon under the glass. I was away for a week, so I don't know when it pupated (perhaps the next day); I hope that I will get to see the adult soon.
