Pupa of tiny colorful moth on Live Oak - Coptodisca powellella

Pupa of tiny colorful moth on Live Oak - Coptodisca powellella
Pacific Coast Trail near Warner Springs, San Diego County, California, USA
This image shows the pupal cuticle which I removed from the lenticular case made from leaf fragments. The adult moth had emerged from this pupal cuticle within a closed container. Green lacewings did not emerge in that container. Their cocoons are round and made of silk; not lenticular and made of leaf fragments! For example:

Yes pupae,
but the image of the cocoon looks identical to this http://bugguide.net/node/view/333193, even with the jaws sticking out the end. Right? Or am I seeing it totally wrong and it's playing tricks on me?

Not identical...
...there are no legs coming out of the pupal case in my images.

Well,
this explain things. I was getting confused too.

Not jaws....
...but the ends of the wings of the pupal cuticle. It does seem odd that it seems to have backed out of the pupal case!

bizarre,
really looked confusing!
