Sap-feeding Beetle - Epuraea umbrosa - male

Sap-feeding Beetle - Epuraea umbrosa - Male
Mobile (Dog River), Mobile County, Alabama, USA
May 4, 2010
Size: tiny
Not sure there is enough info here, as it had all its extremities tucked in. Hmmm .. if only there were someone with a predilection for small, obscure beetles.

Moved tentatively
can't... hold... on... any... longer...

Moved from Epuraea.

Female
Would the buxom posterior possibly indicate a female?

no; this is definitely a male, i can see the postpygidium
--a small segment detached from the tip of the pygidium [specilaty of this genus]
compare
♀♀
♂♂

may be a rather nice one; i'd rule out both rufa and corticina
very straight dorsal view of the pronotum, with all 4 angles sharply in focus, would be enormously helpful

Moved from Beetles.

kinda similar to E. lengi and E. umbrosa ...
...but the elytral apices much more strikingly truncate

Yes
pronotum not quite right for rufa.

Epuraea sp.
Probably E. rufa (Nitidulidae).
