Nursery Web with Egg Sac - Pisaurina mira - female

Nursery Web with Egg Sac - Pisaurina mira - Female
DuPage County, Illinois, USA
April 28, 2004
Size: 50mm
I found this large female carrying her egg sac - there was no web in sight and she remained essentially motionless as long as I was around. Pisaurids have their eyes arranged in 2 rows, the posterior row slightly recurved, the median eyes in the second row slightly (if any) larger than the others. You can see the egg sac is held by the chelicerae and pedipalps.
