Size: about 10 mm
Found on a rock near a small stream in a powerline corridor. Note: third tarsal segment not bilobed, antenna not in a scrobe, pygidium exposed, funiculus 6-segmented, and antennal club has a light colored tip (from Borror, DeLong, and Triplehorn, 1976 - fourth ed.).

Sphenophorus destructor Chittenden, probably a new state record. Often a serious corn pest. Excellent photos.

I now wonder if this could be S. melanocephalus (that i've never seen); let's wait for more opinions

dorsal view is all-important -- pls add, and we'll figure it out
btw, why did you put it the anthribids? this is indeed a rhynchophorine (Curculionidae: Dryophthorinae: Rhynchophorini), more specifically, a billbug -- a member of the genus Sphenophorus
