Eyed Brown - Lethe eurydice

Eyed Brown - Lethe eurydice
Sarett Nature Center, Berrien County, Michigan, USA
June 22, 2000
I believe this is an Eyed Brown? Please correct me if I'm mistaken. Thanks.

Satyrodes eurydice
It Sure is. By looking at the four front wing (FW) eye spots they gradually get smaller as you go up, the appalacichian brown has uneven sized FW spots mixed around, and the "smoky" eyed brown has five FW eye spots. The pearly eyes have a continuous white ring around the RW spots. Nice immage.

We're still confused, Matt
What do you think of Tom's with five eyespots, and Tom's with very zigzag median line? Any ideas?

My Mistake
First off they all can have five FW eyespots, sorry for the mis-information, All my specimens have four eyespots; which I thought was right. Second, Tom's Appalachian brown is what I believe to be another Eyed Brown. The HW basil line has an inward directed tooth at the second vein, and the bottom FW eyespot is not surrounded by an individual pale line forming a "Bulls eye".
