Tomato-eating beetle in Central Texas - Lema opulenta

Tomato-eating beetle in Central Texas - Lema opulenta
Hays County, Texas, USA
May 10, 2010
These beetles are on our three tomato plants by the dozens. My wife thought they were blister beetles, but having performed the definitive test, I don't think they are. I thought they might be flea beetles but the legs don't look quite right. I can't seem to find an identical beetle picture online.
