Formicinae: Formica
Nice pictures of Formica pacifica, showing its typical color pattern, dense pubsecence, and interesting behavior. This ant is often found in urban habitats of the Pacific Northwest.

Thanks
These ants are common in the jumping spider habitat I frequent this time of year. I'll keep my eyes open for more photo ops. They do tend to drag food items around.
