Life cycle with diapause: egg, Day 7 - Papilio zelicaon

Life cycle with diapause: egg, Day 7 - Papilio zelicaon
Alameda County, California, USA
August 10, 2009
Size: ~1 mm
Two days before hatching. Observation of another egg of this species leads me to believe that the dark dots on the surface are the tips of the larva's bristles protruding through the shell.
