Definite Tussock cocoon - Orgyia definita

Definite Tussock cocoon - Orgyia definita
Town of Baileys Harbor, Hidden Corners Sanctuary, Door County, Wisconsin, USA
August 27, 1997
The cocoon was formed with the hairs of the larva, including the black tufts. The pupa inside the cocoon never turned brown, like most pupae. Through the cocoon hairs, it looked off-white. Eclosed as a female Orgyia definita on September 20, 1997.
