Fly - Peleteria
Española, Rio Arriba County, New Mexico, USA

Size: 1.1 cm long
Length excludes bristles and antennae.

Flying around fast and low, spent a lot of time on flowers (Anacyclus pyrethrum var. depressus. Sometimes shy, sometimes allowed close approach from above.

I'd say Peleteria also, but with about 90% certainty
That's based mostly on the photo showing side of face and antennae.
