Yellowstone Gerridae: Aquarius, but which? - Aquarius remigis

Yellowstone Gerridae: Aquarius, but which? - Aquarius remigis
Yellowstone National Park, Wyoming, USA
May 11, 2010
During a vacation in Yellowstone National Park this week, I found gerrids of the genus Aquarius. I'm not sure whether the species is A. remigis or one of the other five Aquarius species in North America. I found them in the mid-morning on the surface of a gently flowing stream near hot springs in the Old Faithful area of central Yellowstone. The air temperature was about 41°F (5°C) at the time. The elevation was about 7,300 feet above sea level.
