This bug's body shape immediately struck me as Alydid-like, but cannot find any species or even genus on BugGuide that seems particularly similar. Was struck by the two big white dots on the side of the thorax, and the distinctive bow-legged posture of the hindlimbs. I believe it was on Whitebrush or Jazminillo (Aloysia gratissima).

Hyalymenus tarsatus
It's common on milkweed. Immature stages are ant mimics. See photos here.

I can buy that
Thanks Mike! This one was not on a milkweed plant, but the shrub was bracketed by a couple of clumps of Tropical Milkweed (Asclepias currasavica). And I have seen at least one ant-mimic hemipteran here, but my photos came out horribly, so I haven't even tried to post them... JSR

Nice,
We'll move to a species page. We checked through the immature Alydidae here to see if we could see any more but just got confused. Don't want to distract you from the work you're doing on beetles, Mike, but could you take a quick look at the Broad-headed bugs without IDs? Thanks,
