Leaf-footed Bug - Acanthocephala terminalis

Leaf-footed Bug - Acanthocephala terminalis
Lancaster, Worcester County, Massachusetts, USA
August 5, 2004
It looks like a nymph of one of the Coreids. I can't find a good match for this one.

Moved
Moved from Leptoglossus.

I think the tibial extensions look deeper than they actually are due to the camera angle. They're the right shape for A. terminalis (and not for any species of Leptoglossus I'm familiar with).

Leptoglossus sp.
This is definitely a species of Leptoglossus. Acanthocephala would have narrower flanges on the hind legs. This is probably a final instar, too, judging by the size of the wing pads. Nice shot.

Probably L. occidentalis
I see lots of the Western Conifer Seed Bug adults later in the season, and haven't found any other adult Leptoglossus sp. yet.
