Moth Fly - Stupkaiella

Moth Fly - Stupkaiella

Any further ID for this Moth Fly? They were congregating on the underside of leaves. Thanks

Stupkaiella sp.
Almost certainly a species of Stupkaiella. There are 7 described species in the eastern US, and at least one undescribed species. There are several possibilities for the species ID on this one. Most are lightly colored like this, but a few are dark gray to black. The congregation on leaves is typical for this genus, and many of its close relatives. Nice pic.
