his comment: "I have seen some with reduced red spots before, and the picture shows other characters that fit nicely. It is a common species nearly all over the US, but usually with red-tipped elytra."

looks like...
A. erraticus. Not sure if that introduced species has been recorded from AZ yet or not. Can try adn key it out later if someone does not get to it first.

not erraticus, but
that large scutellum really narrows it down - need to pull the literature. Should be easy enough to 'pin' down.

on second glance
This isn't one of the 10 or so species with the large scutellum - the angle of the shot only makes it look that way. Any chance of getting a better shot? More straight down. This is just a bit out of focus - can't really make out the pattern of punctures on the pronotum. Are there setae on the elytra?
