I found this attached to a deocrative ornament on my Maple Tree. Its true length is just under an inch long.

A couple of days before taking these pictures I had noticed the cocoon, but forget to get back to it with my camera. When I finally remembered and went back to it, it was vacant. Thank you for the ID.
