Orussus occidentalis ovipositing - Orussus occidentalis - Female
Port Williams Beach, Sequim, Clallam County, Washington, USA
May 14, 2010
Size: ~ 1cm
I noticed the gross behavior first: Orussus (two individuals) holding still. I took the opportunity to get many stills and some video. It was only when I saw the images on my Mac that I realized that the two individuals were ovipositing.
Lars Vilhelmsen confirmed my observation. (See this page.)
I've posted more photos and two videos on my OHN Orussus ovipositing page.

Thanks
This is a public beach, with some dog walkers, so it's an exercise in embarrassment to spend time on hands and knees crouched over logs.

attitude
try thinking that those who waste their lives chilling on the beach instead of shooting bugs embarrass themselves big time :)

Amen!
Amen to the fact that 99.99% of humans are clueless about what shares the same [beach] space as them!
