Pale-winged Midget - Elaphria festivoides

Pale-winged Midget - Elaphria festivoides
Balcones Canyonlands NWR, Burnet County, Texas, USA
March 22, 2010
Size: Est. length 13-15mm
From late March to late April, this was the most common medium-sized noctuid at a porchlight at the Refuge. Main characters seem to be: (1) sharply demarcated brown to ruddy brown head and "collar", (2) pale reniform spot surrounded sharply on lower half by dark brown smudge, creating on the folded wiings the appearance of the letters "J" and "C", (3) pale oblique subapical bar on slightly darker apical ground color. Individuals vary in the boldness of markings, but the "JC" pattern is usually conspicuous. Dark areas on many other noctuids are often situated between orbicular and reniform spots, unlike this pattern.

E. alapallida vs. E. festivoides
I am unable to access the Pogue and Sullivan (2003) article in Proc. Ent. Soc.-Washington to learn about distinguishing these two species. My images seem ~identical to others by Maury Heiman in Medina Co., TX, identified as E. festivoides. Help?

Probably 9681.1 - Elaphria alapallida
(no rsvp, thanks)

Linking?
Thanks, John. My images were unlinked so fast, I thought I had done something wrong. What is the appropriate way to associate several images of (presumably) the same species taken in the same place/time frame?
